Calligraffiti is an amalgam of an ancient refined art form, fused with the raw force of rebellious street art.
A lecture by Niels Shoe Meulman and Adam Eeuwens, authors of Calligraffiti, the Graphic Art of Niels Shoe Meulman.
Niels Shoe Meulman, aka NSM, is a visual artist and legendary graffiti writer; born, raised and based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. His art of writing combines masterful calligraphy skills with the speed and attitude of graffiti, fusing it together into the unique style of Calligraffiti.
Calligraffiti is an amalgam of an ancient, refined art form, fused with the raw force of rebellious street art. It combines the rhythm and regularity of Fraktur’s precise stroke with the perfect accidents of the vertical drip and splatter of the horizontal drop, creating a synthesis of opposites.
Originally from Amsterdam, Adam Eeuwens lives in Los Angeles where he is partner in the art practice and design studio of Rebeca Méndez. He is co-author of the book False Flat, Why Dutch Design is So Good.
Book signing of Calligraffiti will take place immediately after the lecture.
