Three years in the making, our eCloud art installation finally took flight at the new concourse building at the San Jose International Airport, gateway to silicon valley. A hovering cloud of 108 feet length made up of 2900 individually controlled LCD pixels animated by real-time weather data from 100 international destinations attempts to bring back a piece of childlike wonder into an otherwise fairly vanilla-bland environment. eCloud was designed in collaboration with my co-artists Dan Goods and Aaron Koblin with Jamie Barlow as the creative producer for Uebersee, Inc.. Some more images below, but the sculpture is experienced best in motion.

Hi Nik,
I was just there and loved it. I had a lot of fun seeing it change as the light changed during the day. Very ubercool!
Congrats.
I’ve flown into and out of this airport many times and stared in bewilderment when I first saw this cloud. I didn’t realize you were responsible for it, Nik! Really awesome!
