Say what you will about hip hop/urban/graffiti related ‘design’ or ‘art’, but I’m really surprised someone hasn’t made a book about specifically the graphic design within the culture yet. Yes, I realize a lot of this work is ridiculed and unappreciated at design school, but in the end this stuff is a business and these logos and album covers no matter how horribly shot or designed, they have been an instrumental part of people’s lives and the identity of a multimillion dollar industry.
