Bonjour from France!
I’m spending the term abroad participating in the Art Center/INSEAD Design-MBA exchange learning a lot about business, but really missing design!
I had the chance this weekend to visit DesignPack Gallery in Paris, an “Espace pour la promotion de l’Art du Design Packaging,” which I assume means “a super cool space dedicated to the art of packaging.”
The current exhibit, “Recycl’Art,” transforms discarded packages into sculptural pieces of art. While it’s nice to think that the designs we work so hard on will live forever, much of the packaging we design will eventually be trash. Packaging doesn’t have to turn into funky art pieces, but considerations for a “second life” supports sustainability while increasing value to the product it contains.

DesignPack is currently setting up their new exhibit, “Les Pentawards 2009, une mine d’Or pour les créatifs!,” and I’m assuming again, it’s the 2009 Pentaward winners! Look for a second DesignPack post in a few weeks ![]()
