I’m always on the lookout for artists that manage to blur the lines between mediums and really transcend their assigned labels. I found kinderpostzegels 2009, a wonderful bit of motion design, on Motionographer. The animation is done by Paul Postma based on the illustrations of Christian Borstlap.

Christian epitomizes this hybrid sensibility towards art. His work for Kinderpostzegels (a dutch children’s charity) shows a simple elegance that unifies the type, illustrations and even the nature of the language used to convey the messages. The messages themselves are even in their simplicity surprisingly applicable to artists and designers.
